The bar chart illustrates the annual amount of money allocated on clothes by adults and children in the US in 1985,1995, and 2005.
Overall, adults,especially women tended to spend more money on clothes than children. Notably, there was an increase in the clothing expenditures amoung all age groups and genders.
Similarly, in 1985, around 90$ was allocated in purchasing clothing items amoung both boys and girls. Boys annual expenditure on clothes rose to 100$ in 1995 and remained unchanged in 2005. By contrast, the figure for girl’s spending increased to slightly over 100$ in 1995, before climbing to nearly 150$ by 2005.
Regarding adults, females spend 500$ a year on clothes in 1985, which is 200$ higher than their male counterparts. In the followind decade, both figures rose to approximately 520$ and 420$ respectively, narrowing the gap to 100$ only. While annual expendure on clothes by men minimally fell to 400$ by 2005, the figure for women increased to slightly over 600$.
