The bar chart illustrates the proportion of the population living in cities in the world and five continents, namely Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America in three different years, 1950, 2007, and predicts for 2030.
Overall, it is apparent that the population of the world and every continent is increasing. The number of people who reside in North America is higher through the period; however, the lowest number of individuals is living in Africa.
In more detail, the world’s population accounted for 29% in 1950, and in 2030, it will be predicted to reach 60%. Africa whose population was quite low compared with others was 15% in 1950, while the population will reach more than half in 2030. The figures for Asia’s population showed a significant rise at 17% and 54% in 1950 and 2030 respectively.
Furthermore, both Latin America and North America had similar percentages of the population in every period, except for 1950 when Latin America’s population was nearly 20% less than North.
