Overall, the highest number of work opportunities was observed in the restaurants sphere, while by 2004 this figure reached its maximum level. The lowest demand for jobs was recorded in the sector of travel and tours, although sports and leisure didn’t exceed much previously mentioned category, as evidenced by their dominant rate over travel and tours in 1999.
From 1989 to 2004 the request for people in the restaurants rose steadily from 1100 jobs to 1600. However, this number experienced a sharp decline by 2009. Additionally, hotels represented a high demand in work throughout the five years given. Moreover, in 1994 it outnumbered the restaurants, standing at 1400, whereas the restaurants’ number was 1300.
Travel and tours witnessed a dramatic increase from 1989 to 1994, accounting for 900 in 1989 and roughly 1050 in 1994. Nevertheless, after 1994 this figure recorded stable decline, reaching exactly 400 workplaces by 2009. In contrast, the industry of sports and leisure fluctuated considerably during the period, but surpassed travel and tours in all five years, with one exception in 1994, constituting 1050, compared to 900.
