Overall, job openings in most sectors fluctuated, although restaurant employees recorded the highest over the years.
To begin, restaurants and hostel work are the most dominant jobs done by the citizens. The number of workers in restaurants stood at approximately 1100 jobs, which increased gradually over the next 13 years. Then, peaked at 1600 jobs in 2004. Finally, the number of restaurant workers decreased to around 1,300 jobs in 2009. In addition, the jobs created by sports and leisure fluctuated over the years, which recorded the lowest job intake in 1994(around 700 jobs) in contrast to the fields. Nevertheless, it increased to above 1000 jobs in 1999.
Furthermore, the number that worked in the hostel increased significantly from around 1100 in 1989 to 1400 jobs in 1994, similar to travel and tours. In 1999, above 1200 individuals worked in hostels, which experienced a gradual decrease for the rest of the year. Moreover, travel and tour jobs were relatively low throughout the period. In 1989, 1995, 2004, and 2009 the number of jobs for travel and tours recorded were 800, 1100, 900, 700, and 400 respectively.
