The bar chart demonstrates how many men and women aged from 18 to 20 engaged in different types of sport, in a one-month period.
As a general trend, activities such as football, basketball, and hockey are generally more popular among young boys than girls, while a completely opposite trend could be seen in cycling and swimming. The most widespread activity for males is football, while for females it is cycling.
Football displays the largest disparity in the participating figures between the two sexes. While over 50 percent of males played football, merely around 15 percent of females participated in this activity, a proportion that is more than 3 times smaller than men. Basketball, likewise, has more than 30 percent of boys and adolescents engaged in this kind of sport, which is more than two times more than girls. With regard to hockey, the proportion of young men is just over 10, while the figure for young women is approximately 5 percent.
By contrast, despite having a negligible discrepancy, it is evident that the percentage of young men who participated in cycling is more than young women, nearly 36 and 40 percent respectively. Meanwhile, the proportion of swimming done by males is 20, while that done by females is approximately 35, which is almost twice more than that done by men.
