The bar chart compares the proportion of energy obtained from wind in four countries between 1985 and 2000.
Overall, the production of electricity rose over the years in all the countries, especially in Denmark and India, where it multiplied more than sixfold. Of particular note, United States, the leading country for approximately 10 years, and Germany, with the steadiest growth among the others.
On the countries with largest figures, United States started at a high of 1200 MWt, topping the list for most of the time, and reached the peak of more than 1600 MWt, finishing with the slightly decreased figure of 1500 MWt . The growth was much more marked with Denmark, which stood at a number as low as 210 MWt, recording the sharpest increase of a margin of 1400MWt and reaching the highest point in chart over the years.
The other two countries recorded fairly low figures in the beginning. While India experienced a very pronounced increase of nearly 1000MWt, from initial 200Mwt to the final 1200 MWt. The percentage of energy generation in Germany also climbed, albeit to a lesser extent: to roughly 850MWt in 2000. Despite these increases, both countries remained at the bottom of the list.
