The provided bar chart illustrates the percentage of school children learning to play four different musical instruments (violin, guitar, piano and drums) between a five year interval in the years 2005, 2010 and 2015.
Starting from 2005, it is shown that the guitar was the most favored among the other instruments with the Piano being not far behind. The drums however, were the least played with only 5% of school youths learning it.
Half a decade later, in the year 2010, the Guitar and piano got a massive increase with the guitar going from just above 10% to reaching 20% while the piano went from 10% to about 17%. During the same time, the drums and violin stagnas at 5 and 8 percent. Fast forwards 5 more years, the guitar and piano skyrocketted to over 25% while the drums surpassed the violin at 8%.
What we could take away from this graph is that the guitar has been the favourite instrument to pick up among school children with the piano being second best. While the drums and violin staying as a niche instrument to master. It also illustrates a wide gap between the two most preferred instruments and the two unpopular instruments.
