The given bar graph illustrates the level of foreign investment in the economies of India and China between 2014 and 2019.
Overall, foreign investment in China consistently exceeded that of India, although it showed a gradual decline over time, while India’s investment varied. The exception was in 2015, when India’s investment slightly surpassed China’s.
In 2014, China received around 80 billion dollars, which dropped to approximately 60 billion in 2015 and 2016. This figure further declined in 2017 before surging to over 100 billion in 2018, only to fall sharply to just above 40 billion in 2019.
India, on the other hand, saw an increase from just over 30 billion dollars in 2014 to nearly 60 billion in 2015. After a slight decrease in 2016, investment levels returned to around 30 billion in 2017. This was followed by a rise to 60 billion in 2018, but by 2019, investment had dropped to 20 billion dollars.
Notably, 2015 was the only year in which India’s foreign investment slightly exceeded that of China.
