The line graph illustrates the number of shop openings and closures in one country between 2011 and 2018.
Overall, shop openings showed a downward trend over the period, while closures fluctuated significantly, with a dramatic drop in 2015. In most years, the number of closures was higher than openings.
In 2011, around 8,500 new shops opened, compared with approximately 6,500 closures. The number of openings then fell sharply to about 4,000 in 2012, before gradually increasing to nearly 6,000 in 2014. After that, openings declined again, reaching a low point of roughly 3,000 by 2018.
Closures, on the other hand, decreased slightly from about 6,500 in 2011 to 6,000 in 2012, then peaked at around 7,000 in 2013. In 2015, there was a sudden drop to just under 1,000 closures. However, this figure recovered quickly, rising to approximately 5,000 in 2016 and remaining relatively stable until 2018.
