The bar chart compares the average amount of time that people in four different age groups spent on three leisure activities, namely watching TV, using social media/ Internet, and playing sports & fitness in the year 2022.
Overall, people from two age groups, 46-65 and 65+, spent most time watching TV, whereas social media and Internet were the most popular leisure activities among the two younger groups, aged 18-25 and 26-45. Meanwhile, sports and fitness recorded the lowest figures across all age groups.
Regarding the two activities with the higher figures, people aged 65 and above devoted the most time to watch TV, peaking at 28 hours per week, compared with 12 hours for those aged 18-25, 10 hours for the 26-45 group, and 18 hours among those aged 46-65. By contrast, the 18-25 age group spent the most time on social media and the Internet, at 25 hours per week, followed by the 26-45 and 45-65 groups, at 18 and 10 hours respectively.
Looking at sports and fitness, the figures were relatively low across four age groups. The youngest group spent 10 hours per week on this activity, while the corresponding figures for the 26-45 and 46-65 groups were 6 and 5 hours respectively. Those aged 65 and above only devoted 2 hours per week to sports and fitness.
