The bar chart illustrates how gender has an impact on the qualifications attained by people of working age in Wales in 2001/2002. The majority of men gained up to GCE A level whereas a larger number women attained GCSE grade A* – C, that means there is a gap in qualifications between males and females.
A larger proportion of men achieved the GCE A level category, whereas women dominated other qualification categories namely GCSE grade A* – C , with both groups can dominate roughly twenty to thirty percent in their main category. For ‘No qualifications’ women slightly outnumber men about twenty three percent compare to nineteen percent.
In contrast, degree and other qualifications represent ten percent for both sexes that means a significantly lower number when it is compare to the other lower qualification, the gap can reach to roughly fifteen percent. The pattern is still continues when it comes to the higher education. The percentage of people who can achieve higher education is less than ten percent, that means it is the lowest number among other qualification category
