In general, Brighton University stood out among others with the highest number of admissions, followed by Birmingham and Leeds. The lowest enrollment can be seen at Cardiff and Huddersfield. Birmingham and Edinburgh did significantly better in attracting foreign students in 2014 compared to 2009. Cardiff was the only university where the student intake declined in 2014 than in 2009.
Brighton was the leading university in enrolling foreign students in both years, 12% in 2009 and 13% in 2014. Birmingham was the second most popular among international students with an 8 percent intake in 2009, which climbed up to 12 percent in 2014. Leeds took third place in admitting foreign students, with 9% admission in 2009 and 10% in 2014. Liverpool remained steady in both years with 8% intake, while Manchester increased its intake to match Liverpool.
The University of Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Bristol performed better in 2014 than in 2009, and levelled off with 6% intake in 2014. Cardiff and Huddersfield were ranked at the bottom in admitting students. Cardiff intake declined in 2014 by 1 percent compared to 2 percent in 2009.
