The bar chart compares the percentage of men and women aged 18 to 20 who took part in five different activities in a city during one month in 2015.
Overall, football and cycling were more popular among men, while swimming and cycling had slightly higher participation among women. Hockey had the lowest participation for both genders.
In basketball, around 30% of men joined this activity, which was almost double the figure for women, at about 15%. Cycling was fairly similar for both genders, with just over 40% of women taking part compared to roughly 35% of men.
In football, the difference between genders was the greatest. About 55% of men played football, while only around 20% of women did so. Swimming showed the opposite pattern, with 30% of women participating, compared to only 15% of men.
Finally, hockey had the lowest participation rates. Around 10% of men played hockey, whereas the figure for women was slightly lower, at about 5%.
