Overall, it is clear that three out of the four instruments showed an increase in the percentage of school children choosing them during the 10-year period. Additionally, the piano was the most popular instrument in both 2005 and 2010, while in 2015 the majority of students chose to learn the guitar.
According to the chart, the proportion of pupils learning the guitar significantly went up from nearly 10% in 2005 to 40% in 2015, and became the most popular instrument chosen by learners in 2015. There was also a similar trend for the number of school children who studied the piano, which rose by approximately 30% over the same period. In 2005 and 2010 most of the students chose the piano for the instruments they were learning. Moreover, between 2005 and 2010 the popularity of the drums remained stable at 5%, then the figure increased to 10% in 2015.
By contrast, the percentage of students learning the violin slightly decreased from 10% to 5% over a period of ten years, turning it into the least popular at the end of the period.
