Overall, football had the highest figures throughout the period, despite a noticeable decline, and it stayed the most popular sport among students. In contrast, tennis and swimming experienced a marked rise, while basketball decreased gradually. In addition, swimming overtook basketball by the end of the period.
In 2010, the percentage of students in football accounted for about 56%, far higher than basketball with roughly 42%, tennis and swimming standing at 27% and 35% respectively. Football saw a considerable reduction to nearly 48%, yet it still remained the most favored sport activity.
Basketball, however, witnessed a downturn to around 37%. By comparison, tennis and swimming increased significantly over the period. Tennis reached the point just above 30%, whereas swimming grew more noticeably to about 38%, placing it on a par with basketball before ultimately surpassing it.
