At first glance, the late nineteen century data is barely comparable to nowadays. However, some similarities can be noted.
To start with, Services sector has grown tremendously during the given time frame. Back in 1850’s, there was only 33% of workers utilized in this industry compared to 81% in 2020’s. In contrary, Manufacturing and Agriculture/Fishing industries are employing way less workers these days. There has been a tremendous decline in these sectors, from 36% to 9% and 22% to 1% respectively.
More settle changes are present in construction Industry; there were 5% of total workforce distributed in this sector back in the day. The proportion increased to 8% this day. Lastly, Energy/Water sector has also faced a drop from 3% to 1% throughout the years.
