The charts depicts the percentage of spending for several services in the UK, Australia and Japan in 2013, with figures measured in percent.
Overall, housing was the main expense in all three countries . More specifically, families in the UK and Japan spent the majority of their money for housing and transportation, while Australian people spent more for healthcare.
Looking at the details, households spent much more money for housing in comparison to other categories. In japan families expended approximately one third of their income for accommodation, while the figure for people in the UK and Australia was just above 26% and around 23% respectively. Transportation was the second most common area, where individuals in Japan and in the UK allocated around 18%, followed by Australian population with just under 15%.
In terms of healthcare, Australia spent the most, at around 20%, while Japan followed closely with about 18%. By contrast, the figure for the UK was much lower, at only 8%. A similar pattern can be seen in the food category. Japan again had the highest proportion, at approximately 15%, whereas the UK and Australia spent less on food, at about 14% and 11% respectively.
