The bar graph illustrates the numbers of female and male research students in six field in a United States university in 2010.
Overall, most of the subjects in the university were dominated by male students with the exception of Linguistic and Natural Science fields.
Specifically, in the mathematics faculty, there were 200 male research students, a figure that was nearly five folds higher than the number of females research student, which amounted to only under 50. Similarly, Programming had 150 male research students, whilst only 75 females participated in this field. However, the disparity got less and less significant, as 150 males and around 90 females studied in Engineering. Finally, the Psychology field had 200 male research students, which was just a few dozen more students than the number of female research students in this faculty.
Regarding the exceptions, the amount male and female research students in Natural Science were equal, as both were at 200 students. In Linguistics, the number of female students was marginally higher than the number of male students, which were at over 100 students and about 80 students respectively.
