Overall, it is seen that most of the general popluation and inmate population in the year 2001 had attained some secondary education. However, higher education is the least preferred by both of the categories in South Africa.
No schooling and complete primary education hold 10% for the inmate population, while 10% of the general population also gone for no schooling option, and approximately 8% had acquired complete primary education. However, more than 20% and 15% is being shared by the inmate and general population for some primary education, respectively.
On the one hand, the highest share is contributed by some secondary education for around 45% by the inmate population, and nearly 40% by the general population. On the other hand, the least attained education is higher for about 2-3% for the inmates and more than 5% for the generals. More than 20% of the generals, and 10% population are in the inmate population had obtained grade 12/std.
