The line graphs below present the information about usage of electrical domestic appliances in household and time people spent on chores during 1920 to 2019. Overall, it is clear that the percentage of new technologies at houses risen drastically and so doing housework become faster and easier.
Starting from 1920, refrigerator, washing machine and vacuum cleaner showed an upright trend in their usefulness. The percentage of households with last two electrical appliances in 1920 was nearly the same 40 and 30, respectively. Then, in 1960 it was 60 percent for both washing machine and vacuum cleaner. Until the 2019, where vacuum cleaner’s percentage was 100, that was almost 25 percent more than washing machine’s. Throughout these 100 years, refrigerator depicted the most acute correlations in its popularity among households. In 1920 its percentage was 0, but just in 40 years it become 90. It reached its top of 100 percent in 1980.
At the same time, the number of hours of housework per week was falling down through the century. The peak of 50 hours was in the beginning and in 1960 was already cut down to 20. Then, in the next few decades it was slightly changing till getting to its minimum of just 10 hours per week.
In conclusion, it is notable how new technologies in our households affect our daily productiveness in a better way.
