In general, the percentage of 1 to 2 people per house experienced a remarkable increase, whereas the proportion of 3 to 6 people per house showed a reverse trend. Besides, households with 6 people stood out as the lowest, while the rate of 2 persons living together comprised most households over the period.
Regarding households with an upward trend, the smallest-sized household significantly rose by 9% after comprising 17% at the start of the period. The percentage of 2-member households slightly ascended from 31% in 1981 to 34% in 2001.
In terms of households with a downward trend, the decreasing percentages of these households ranged from 2-4 percent. In 1981, 3-member and 4-member households occupied 20% and 14% before descending to 17% and 15% respectively in 2001. Over the period, households with 5 members declined from 8% to 6%, while the lowest proportion of the list (6-person per household) lightly plummeted from 6% to 2%.
