Overall, it is evident that the number of doctors displayed an increase over the period. In terms of the columns, there were disparities among genders working in this field in each year, and the indigenous doctors were higher compared to the foreigner ones.
In 1986, there were 300.000 doctors in Australia. This figure witnessed a substantial increase in the following decades, reaching 640.000 individuals and 800.000 individuals in 1996 and 2006.
Regarding the left column, at the first period, around 55% doctors were male, 10% higher compared to the female ones. In the next decade, an increase can be observed for female doctors whereas the opposite was true for the male one, at 55% and 42% respectively. After ten years, the figures for male and female doctors were relatively similar, at 52% and 48% each. For the right column, a gap can be observed between Australian and foreigner doctors over the period, with the Australian figure being 60% in both 1986 and 2006, and 50% in 1996.
