The bar graph compares the weekly expenditure by families in a particular country in years: 1968 and 2018. The expenses are divided in eight different categories which includes, food, housing, fuel and power, clothing and footwear, household goods, personal goods, transport, and leisure.
Overall, there has been a vast shift in the percentage expenditure among the categories in both the years. While the expenditure has dramatically reduced on food, fuel and power, personal goods, and clothing & footwear, it has substantially increased on housing, transport, and leisure, in the year 2018. However, amount spent of household goods remain constant for the both the year.
Looking at the amenity that has experienced the reduction in expenditure in 2018 in comparison to 1968.
Looking at the details, the percentage expenditure on food lowered to 17% (approximately) in year 2018 when compared to 35% in 1968, which is even less than the half of the early proportion. Similar trend can be scene in Clothing and footwear; where the average expenses was 10% in 1968, which reduced to 5% in 2018. Furthermore, the slight decrease in expenditure was experienced by other two amenities: fuel and power, and personal goods.
However, the trend differs when talking about the housing as it experiences increased amount of expenditure from 10% in 1968 to 19% in 2018. Ther major increased expenditure is scene in leisure activities by 9% in previous year to more that 20% in the latter year. The same trend can be scene in transport sector.
