The bar chart details the ages of women when they had their first child in Australia in 1966, 1986 and 2006. Overall, it is apparent that there was a growing trend after age of 30. While there was a sharp drop at the age of 19 and under, 20-24, the opposite trend was observed among women aged after 30s. It is also worth noting that women aged 25-29 fluctuated over the period given.
In 1966, women who at the age of 19 and under stood at around 35%, falling with 15 percentage point in 1986, further dropping to approximately 11% in 2006. As regards aged 20-24, in 1966, made up over 60%, with continued to decline to just below 40% in 1986, and at the end of the period it declined to 30-point.
As for, however, 30-34 age bracket witnessed consistent rise. To be more specific, the share for women who gave their first kid constituted at just above 10%, with increasing to 18% in 1986. In 2006, it was experienced sharp increase by almost 32%. When it comes to 35-39 age bracket comprised 8% at the beginning of the period, with rising to 15% in 1986, and those aged women experienced margin rise to 30 percentage point in 2006. In terms of women aged 40s underwent slight increased all the period given, starting at 2% in 1966, went up to 4%, finishing at nearly 5%. Additionally, women had their first born at the age of 25-29 showed 38% in 1966, increased to 50%, and declined slightly by 10%.
