The bar chart below shows us how a school student aged 11 to 16 in the UK go to school in a year by walking, riding a bicycle, riding a car, or taking the bus. It is measured by miles.
Based on the chart above, in one year, the majority of children choose their way to go to school by walking and taking the bus which is the nearest and furthest journey among the others respectively.
More than 75% children choose walking since it is only 0-1 miles away from school where it is the nearest distance. Over 75% children ride a bicycle with a distance of 1-2 miles, while the distance of 2-5 miles and over 5 miles for riding a car has a similar percentage below 37.5%.
On the other hand, buses are the most used transport for students whose house are over 5 miles from school which has a percentage of above 60%.
To sum up, students whose house are around 0-1 miles from school choose to walk with more than 75% students while students whose house are up to 5 miles choose to travel by a bus with more than 50% students.
