The line chart indicates how long a vehicle took four US-based manufacturers to generate from 1998 to 2002
Overall, it is discernible that there was an upward trend in the number of hours Ford took to generate a vehicle, the opposite was true for the remaining producers. Moreover, although a vehicle initially took Nissan the most amount of time to produce, Nissan became the fastest producers by the end of the period
In 1998, Nissan topped the list with 37 hours producing a car, followed closely by DC with 36 hours. Nissan tried to reduce tremendously time to roughly 23 hours in 2000 before reach the highest level of 21 hours in 2002, reprensenting the most changes among 4 generators. DC also recorded a decreasing trend from 36 hours to approximately 32 hours, plateauing at the same level in 2 years prior to continuously slipping to 29 hours
Whereas, the amount of time GM generating a vehicle declined consistently from 32 hours to around 24 hours by the end of the given period. A striking contrast can be seen in that of DC, it just spent 25 hours producing a car in 1998, fluctuating over the years and reaching 27 hours in 2002.
