Overall, the percentage of people who gave money to charity in 1990 was generally higher than in 2010. However, while donations decreased among the young age groups in 2010, they increased slightly among older individuals who aged 51 to 65.
In 1990, people aged between 36 and 50 made the most charitable donations, at 42%, followed by the 51 to 65 age group with 35%. The 26 to 35 and over 65 age groups had similar figures, at approximately 31% and 32% respectively. The lowest percentage of donations came from the 18 to 25 group, with only 17%.
In 2010, the 51 to 65s contributed the most with approximately 40%. Notably, people who were over 65 and those in the 36 to 50 age group had similar percentages accounted for 35%. The 26 to 35 age group saw a decrease to 24%, whereas donations from people aged 18 to 25 plunged to just 7%.
