The bar chart shows the percentage of houses possessed by individuals aged 25-34 in UK from 2004 to 2014. Overall, homeowners experienced a substantial downward trend while renters witnessed a significant upward trend during the period. However, the figures for owning houses still higher than renting houses in almost years, except 2013 and 2014.
It can be clearly seen that there was a dramatic decrease in choosing accommodation as ownership. Initially, the proportion of homeowners was approximately 60% in 2004, then slightly fell to around 55% in 2006. It saw a slight increase in 2007 before gradually declining to over 40% in 2011. Although the number of people owning houses remained stable for two years, it quickly dropped and hit its lowest point at 35% in 2014.
In contrast, the ratio of people who rented homes was the lowest with about 20% which grew steadily until 2014 .It remained stable from 2005 to 2006 with just under a quarter and from 2012 to 2013 with over 40%. In 2014, the percentages of citizens who rented house which reached a peak at just under a half.
