Overall, in 2001 the percentage of households with telephone was dominant while in 2008, the amount of families who had microvave, CD player and mobile phone accounted for the same amount, representing the highest proportion. However, lower percentages belonged to the categories of Internet and dishwasher in both years.
In 2001, 95% of British families had telephone while in 2008 this proportion was 90% which was the same as households with microwave and CD player. In the first years(2001), the amount of families having microwave and CD player was 80%and 70%, respectively. As regards the percentage of families owning mobile was 80%, four times as high as in 2008.
In terms of less amounts, in 2001, approximately 35% of families in Britain owned home computer whereas in 2008 this index reached about 65%, representing a twofold increase. Focusing on the percentage of British families with clothes dryer, they show insignificant differences in terms of years with respective figures of 60% and 70%. In 2001, British families that had the facility of Internet access showed the least percentage, accounting for 10% ,which was six times lower than 2008. In 2001,the percentage of dishwasher users among British families was 20%. However, this index doubled in 2008.
