The bar chart gives information about the growing urban population in three different continents and whole world in 1950, 2000, and 2030. Overall, as time passes, more and more people tend to live in cities rather than rural areas, however this tendency was far more noticeable over the first 50-year period.
In Africa, the year 1950, had the lowest number, increasing by 12%. However, by 2000, this figure had increased considerably to 39%. It is projected that by 2030, African population growth in cities will reach just over 50%.
In Asia, as in Africa, the numbers exhibited a similar trend in both 1950 and 2000, while it is predicted that 57% of Asian people will live in cities by 2030, a figure slightly higher than the African population.
Latin America is the most densely urban populated region among others. There was an increase of 41% regarding urban population in 1950, a number relatively higher than in other regions, while by 2000, this increase had gone up to 70%. The highest number of whole reigion is likely to be reached by 2030, incrasing to 80%.
Urban population growth by whole world, experinced an upward trend over the whole period. The trend saw an increase of 30% in 1950, and then it went up to 48% in 2000. Finally, it will increase to 60% by 2030.
