Overall, all countries showed decreased figure of men aged 60-64 in employment from 1970 to 2000, with Belgium having the most significant downfall. In contrast, women with the same age range didn’t experience a significant changes in the timeframe. Furthermore, all countries had more men in the workforce compared to the women in the mentioned period.
In 1970, Japan had the most men employment rate at 84% followed by Belgium at 79%, Australia at 74, and the USA merely behind at 73%. By 2000, while all countries experienced a fall in employment percentage, Japan had the least decrease with 76%, while USA and Australia had fallen more than 15%. Moreover, Belgium had the steepest descent to just 19% in 2000.
Japan also had the highest women workforce aged 60-64 at 43% in 1970, followed by the USA at 36%, Australia at 18%, and Beligum had the lowest percentage of 8%. In 2000, Both Japan and Belgium experienced a miniscule decrease to 40% and 7% respectively, while Australia and the USA rose a little to 19% and 38%.
