These two pie charts illustrate the percentage of family budget allocation in two different countries (Japan and Malaysia) in 2010, divided into 5 categories such as housing, transport, food, health care and other services.
On the whole, a household in Japan expended the highest amount of their income into other categories of goods and services. On the other hand, every family in Malaysia spent most of their money on housing. However, Japanese and Malaysian households shared the same feature with the least percentage, which was medical services.
Firstly, in Japan, a family unit consumed 29% of their budget for other goods and services. It was higher than in Malaysia with only 20%. Moreover, while Japanese allocated 24% of their earnings onto food, Malaysian families had only 27%. Furthermore, residential family in Japan spent only 21% for housing and this is quite contrast with the families in Malaysia who used more than a quarter of their money on it.
