The chart illustrates the proportion of use on roads and transport in four countries namely Italy, Portugal, UK and USA between 1990 and 2005.
Overall, there was a significant decrease in the percentage of Portugal while a small change was seen in the figure for the USA, except 1995, UK was the least spending of the chart . It is also clear that Italy has a similar trend with Portugal, except in 2005.
The government of Portugal spent on roads and transport was seen at 27% in 1990 far more than any other country listed, after which the figures significantly decreased to 20% in 1995 before continuing a downward trend and ending the period at 16% in 2005. Starting slightly above one-tenth of the percentage of using roads and transport, which was the lowest among all countries before reaching a peak at 13% in 1995 and then has a significant drop throughout the period.
Italy, has a similar downward trend with Portugal when it decreased to 20% in 1990 to 12% in 2000, except 2005 when slight rise appeared. In addition, the USA was the only country that saw a little fluctuation, the proportions of spending on roads and transport around 14 percent throughout the period.
