The chart compares different ways of waste disposal in a European country between 2005 to 2008
Overall, what stands out from the chart is that 2005 witnessed the highest level of waste disposal across all methods. Of equal note is that landfill and dumping in sea experienced downturns, while burning one showed the reverse trend. Meanwhile, landfill strategy was the most popular in 2005, while burning was the most common in 2008.
Regarding the burning strategy, its figure started at 70 million tones, then decreased significantly to 40 million tones in 2008, from the highest position to the lowest one. A similar trend can be observed in the method of dumping in sea. The figure began at roughly 50 million tones, followed by a drop to 50 million tones, then leveled off until 2007 before continuing to go down to 40 million tones by the end, at the same level with landfill method.
In contrast, this European country witnessed a decline in the usage of burning method. Although its figure stood at the second-high position in the beginning with approximately 65 million tones, it continuing to decrease remarkably to 40 million tones in 2007 before recovering its initial volume in 2008.
