The bar chart illustrates the sales of five major phone brands worldwide between 2009 and 2013. Overall, there were increases in the sales of Samsung and Apple, while the opposite was true for those of Nokia, LG and ZTE. Additionally, in the first year, Nokia recorded the highest revenue, but this was the case for Samsung in the final year, while ZTE was by far the least bought over the period.
Regarding manufacturers with the highest figures, in 2009, Nokia dominated the market with 440 million units, about twice Samsung’s sales (240 million). However, a reverse pattern was seen in 2013 when the figures for Samsung and Nokia were 450 million and 250 million, respectively.
As for the other companies, roughly 120 million LG phones were sold in 2009, followed by a gradual decline of 40 million in 2013. In contrast, Apple’s sales saw the greatest growth, with around 20 million devices initially and 150 million finally. Similar changes, albeit to a much lesser extent, can be seen in the sales of ZTE, inclining negligibly from approximately 50 million units in the first year to just over this level in the final year.
