Overall, it is clear that football was the most interesting athletic sport for boys, while netball was for girls. Another interesting point is that basketball was seen as having slight differences in the number of participants for both genders.
In 2010, football was the most preferred physical exercise for schoolboys, with 20% of them in choosing this sport, compared to 4%. In contrast, female students were by far more interested than male students in playing netball, with 8% and 2%, respectively.
With regard to swimming, Australian girls were more attracted to swimming than boys, with a gap of 2%. Similarly, boys were not as many as girls in choosing no sports, with 2% and 4% consecutively. However, around 7% of girls consider playing basketball more than 6% of boys.
