The bar chart illustrates the sales of three types of magazines over five consecutive weeks in one region.
Overall, all categories followed an upward trajectory, though at different rates. Sports magazines consistently generated the highest revenue, while fashion magazines remained the least popular. Notably, music magazines recorded the steadiest and most pronounced growth, gradually closing the gap with sports publications.
At the beginning, sales of fashion and music magazines were comparable, at $38 million and $42 million respectively, though both were far below the $75 million recorded for sports magazines. Fashion magazines then dropped sharply to $20 million in Week 3 – less than a fifth of sports sales at the same point – before recovering to $60 million by Week 5, still well behind the other categories. By contrast, music magazines almost doubled to $80 million by the end, surpassing fashion and coming within $40 million of sports.
As for sports magazines, sales peaked at $110 million in Week 3 before a brief dip at exactly $100 million and subsequent rebound to $120 million in the final week. Despite this volatility, they maintained a clear lead over the other two categories throughout the period.
