Overall, the USA had the highest energy consumption, while Australia had the lowest among the three countries. Additionally, Japan experienced the greatest rate of increase.
Despite having the highest energy consumption in the industrial sector (420 million tons), the percentage change in the US was only 0.9% compared to 1999. In contrast, Japan and Australia consumed significantly less energy, at 159 million tons and 36 million tons respectively, but their percentages of increase were much higher, standing at 39% and 28%.
In the transportation sector, the USA also led in energy consumption (565 million tons), while Australia used only 25 million tons. However, Japan had the highest percentage change in this sector at 52%.
In other sectors, the USA maintained its lead with a consumption of 435 million tons, followed by Japan (148 million tons) and Australia (31 million tons). Japan again had the highest rate of increase in this sector at 46%. In adittion, the total energy consumption follows a similar trend, with the USA in the lead and Australia in third place.
