The given table illustrates the energy consumption in three countries in 2000 as well as the percentage of increase in 1999.
Overall, USA consumed the maximum energy and Australia consumed the minimum energy in three countries. Besides that, the rate of increase in Japan was the highest.
Despite the maximum energy consumption in the US in industrial sector (420 million tons), the percentage of change in the US was just 0.9% compared with the year 1999. On the contrary, Japan and Australia consumed less energy (159 and 36 million tons respectively), the percentage of increase was much higher at 39% and 28% simultaneously.
In tranportation, USA was also the highest figure in energy consumption with 565 million tons, whereas Australia just used 25 million tons. However, the percentage of change in Japan was the highest at 52%.
In other sectors, the US took the lead in consuming energy (435 million tons), followed by the energy consumption in Japan (148 million tons) and in Australia (31 million tons). Japan had the highest rate of increase at 46%. The total energy consumption follow a familiar trend with USA taking the lead and Australia following at number three.
