The line graph compares changes in the consumption of three types of fast food in the United Kingdom over a period of 20 years.
Overall, fish and chips emerged as by far the most consumed fast food by the end of the period, while pizza saw a significant fall in its popularity.
In 1970, pizza was the most popular type, accounting for 300 units. Meanwhile, the consumption levels of fish and chips and hamburgers were considerably lower, at around 90 and 40 units, respectively.
Between 1970 and 1990, the consumption of fish and chips underwent a moderate rise to approximately 150 units in 1980 before surging dramatically to a peak of 500 units by the end of the period. Similarly, the figure for hamburgers followed a steady upward trajectory, climbing to just over 100 units in 1985 prior to its rapid increase to just under 300 units in 1990. By contrast, pizza consumption experienced a gradual decline to 200 units in 1985 and plateaued at this level over the remainder of the period.
