The line graph illustrates the percentage of spending from 1960 to 2000 in Turkey. Overall, except for clothing, all other categories of spending experienced a decrease. Even so, energy remained the lowest.
Spending on food and leisure started as first and second, at 35% (it is also the highest percentage on the graph) and 20%, respectively. In the first and second decades, leisure remained in the same position even though it was decreasing, but around 1980, clothing overtook it, reaching more than 16% and claiming second place, while leisure dropped from 20% to 16% in the first two decades and then to almost 13% in 2000. As for food, it had a dramatic decrease, causing it to lose its place between 1990 and 2000 and finish at 15%.
As for transport, clothing, and energy, they held their rankings as third, fourth, and fifth, in that order. Clothing was a little below transport with 9%, while transport was 10%; for that reason, transport was the first to lose its position as third in the first decade. As clothing was the only one increasing, it also overtook leisure around the 1980s and food between 1990 and 2000, reaching its peak at 17%. As for energy, it remained the lowest, starting at 5% and ending at 2%.
