Focusing on the cities that began with the longest commute times, in 2002, citizens in Sydney spent most time per day traveling to work (around 35 minutes), compared to others. The figure for Sydney increased continuously before reaching a peak at approximately 39 minutes in 2008. Afterwards, it receded to nearly 37 minutes in the end. Similarly, in 2002, inhabitants in Brisbane spent roughly 27 minutes each day going to work before increasing sharply by around 10 minutes in 2008. In 2010, it decreased slightly to approximately 34 minutes
Turning to the remaining cities, the figure for Adelaide was nearly 24 minutes in 2002. This number increased continuously in the following years before decreasing to the initial number (roughly 24 minutes) in 2010. Finally, residents in Perth spent around 26 minutes traveling to work in 2002. This number remained unchanged in the next 6 years before surpassing Adelaide, peaking at roughly 34 minutes per day in 2010
