Overall, Sydney had the longest commuting time while Adelaide had the shortest.
Looking first at the commuting time of Sydney and Brisbane cities, Sydney’s dwellers devoted exactly 35 minutes for commuting to work in 2002 after which the figure witnessed a slight rise to nearly 39 minutes in 2008 before declining to roughly 37 minutes in 2010. A similar vein but to a greater extent can be seen in the amount of time for going to work of residents in Brisbane city. In 2002, the figure stood at nearly 26 minutes. Thereafter, it had a significant increase to nearly 36 minutes in 2008 before decreasing to about 34 minutes in 2010, respectively.
Turning to the remaining cities ( Perth and Adelaide), Perth’s citizens spent nearly 26 minutes commuting to work in 2002 and the figure was uniform until 2008. Thereafter, it rose significantly to approximately 34 minutes at the end of the period. However, Adelaide witnessed a slight fluctuation between nearly 24 and 25 durations for going to work during the examined period, excepting a considerable increase to about 27 minutes in 2006.
