The graph illustrates the shares of academic staff members of two genders across different faculties, namely arts, business, education, engineering, law, medicine, and science in a major university in 2012.
Overall, the largest percentage of men was allocated to engineering, while for women it was the field of education. Additionally, medicine was the only faculty with neraly equal percentage for both genders.
As the graph shows, academic staff members in arts were mostly women and stood at 58 percent. However, in faculties like business, law and sceince the percentage of male staff was bigger and quite similar: 62, 60 and 62 percent respectively. Consequently, for females in these fields the shares were 35, 40 and 38 respectively. The difference in persentages for education and engineering were the largest. The former stood at 72 percent for women and 25 for man. For engineering it was 18 and 85 percents respectively. Furthermore, in medicine it was nearly the same number for male and female staff: 49 and 50 percent.
