The line graph illustrates the crime rate in various regions of Manchester city over a period of nine years, and divides the data into three main categories on types of crimes comitted. A visible fluctuation can be specifically seen on the number of burglaries, while robbery and car hijackings experience somewhat stable numbers compared to the former.
Burglaries start the chart from the highest data, and show growth for the initial year of the graph. Right after this slight jump, an owerwhelming plunge is displayed with mild changes in different periods of time up until the year 2008. The rate of this crime falls behind the number of car thefts between 2006 and 2007, slowly coming close to the number of robberies, yet it does not go lower than that.
Car thefts, on the other hand, exhibit no drastic changes for this 9-year-period. After a quite small decline in the first 3 years, various fluctuations can be observed. However, it shows a mostly upward trend between 2008 and 2012, possibly surpassing its own initial data in 2009.
Finally, robberies commence the chart greatly behind the rate of others, and continue in a similar manner for the rest of the years. An almost doubling of the amount could be noted for the first 2 years. Yet, in 2005, the act circles back to the same numbers in one year, struggling to move beyond until the very end of the chart. A barely notable increase is shown, however, it is safe to say that compared to other crimes, robberies goes over an almost straight line, staying very stable in terms of numbers.
