Generally, the Sahara Desert is the largest of the three, while the Taklimakan and the Great Basin are similar in size. In addition, the Sahara and the Great Basin Deserts experience much hotter summers, whereas the Taklimakan Desert has a significantly colder climate, especially in winter.
According to the table, the Sahara covers an area of approximately 9 million sq km, which is significantly larger than the Taklimakan and the Great Basin, measuring 270,000 and 305,775 sq km. Regarding rainfall, the Taklimakan is the driest desert. By contrast, the Great Basin shows the widest range, from 5.1 to 51 cm per year.
Turning to temperatures, both the Sahara and the Great Basin have average summer temperatures around 30C, while the Taklimakan is slightly cooler at 25C. Furthermore, the Taklimakan experienced the lowest temperature extreme, reaching -26.1C. Meanwhile, the Sahara and the Great Basin Desert reached the extreme temperatures of 58C and 57C.
