The chart depicts the amount of carbon emissions from several types of fossil fuels, including gas, oil, and coal, in the United Kingdom between 1990 and 2010.
Overall, the level of CO2 from the three types of fossil fuels stayed unchanged during the period, except in 1995.
Looking at the graph, in 1990, the amount of CO2 from gas stood at about 225 million tons. That from coal was the highest, with nearly 310 million tons, followed by that of oil with 275 million tons. After five years, while the level of carbon emissions from gas rose significantly to 275 million tons, the others dropped slightly by about 40 million tons.
In 2000, these trends continued to change. The amount of CO2 from oil and coal increased to the same level as it was at the initial time before remaining constant until 2010. In contrast, that of gas reduced rapidly to 225 million tons and did not change from 2000 to 2010.
