The bar chart gives information about the number of various means of transport registered in Europe in two years, 1996 and 2006.
Overall, a discernible upward trend was observed in the number of private cars and other types, while motorcycles and lorries exhibited a negative correlation. Notably, private cars are the most predominant form of transportation in both years.
Looking first at the number of private cars and other types, in 1996, the figure for private cars was recorded at 19 million, surpassing that for other types significantly, standing only at 1.5 million. After a decade, both categories witnessed a considerable growth, with the former registering a rise of 26.32% to 24 million and the latter increasing noticeably by 58.33% to 2 million.
Regarding the remaining means of transport, initially, about 1 million motorcycles were registered, higher than lorries by 0.5 million and buses, coaches, and taxis by a ten-fold gap. Afterward, while the number of buses, coaches, and taxis remained unchanged, those of motorcycles and lorries saw a substantial decline of 40% and 20% in 2006, respectively.
