The bar chart compares the number of houses sold for over 5 million US dollars in eight different cities between 2009 and 2014.
Overall, the majority of cities experienced an increase in luxury house sales over the period. London remained the highest in both years, while Dubai consistently recorded the lowest sales. Some cities showed a much higher increase, whereas others saw a slight change or even a decline.
In 2009, London had more sales than any other city, with New York having lower but still considerable numbers, about half that of London. Similarly, Hong Kong had a higher number of sales compared to Sydney, Los Angeles, and Miami, although it remained far lower than the top two cities. On the other hand, Dubai had the lowest sales, with an insignificant fraction of the total, while Singapore sold slightly more houses than Dubai, though still a small amount.
By 2014, London’s sales were significantly higher, continuing to hold the highest position. Likewise, New York experienced a sharp rise, with sales much higher than in 2009. In addition, Hong Kong’s figures nearly tripled. Although Dubai remained the lowest, it showed an improvement compared to 2009. Meanwhile, Miami, Sydney, and Los Angeles saw only slight increases, and Singapore was the only city to have lower sales than before.
