The bar chart compares statistics of incidents and injuries per 100 million passenger miles travelled (PMT) by various transportation types in 2002.
Overall, it can be seen from the graph that figures of incidents are greater than those of injuries. Another remarkable point in this chart is the number of people using demand response getting into troubles or accidents is the largest.
Travelling by commuter rail only caused a small number of people to incur incidents and injuries, with 20 and 17 per 100 million respectively. Meanwhile, a large number of people commutting by demand response were inclined to such problems, also the highest figures in this chart. It is because in 100 million passengers mile, 225 of them faced incidents, and 173 of them got injured.
Three left cohorts show moderate numbers of people getting issues relating to using these means of transportation, which are heavy rail, light rail, and bus. Also in 2002, light rail and bus saw the equal figures of people experiencing incidents, 76 per 100 million passenger miles.
